Doula Dawn

Dawn Humphrey

Owner, Professional Doula

After having her own family,  Dawn discovered the role of the doula and jumped into professional doula work with both feet.  She is lovingly known in the community as "Doula Dawn" and has built a notable reputation over the last 7 years. She transitioned from being a solo doula to opening Guelph's first doula practice, Guelph Family Doulas, in the fall of 2017. Carrying certifications from DONA, ProDoula, and CPSAC, Dawn's passion is to help families feel supported and cared for as they navigate the highs and lows of pregnancy and parenthood. Dawn is also the regional rep for the Association of Ontario Doulas Waterloo-Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph region and is co-chair of the Guelph Community Breastfeeding Collaborative.

Grab a cup of tea and a chair and you'll find Dawn to be one of the best listeners you'll ever meet! Dawn's favourite ways to unwind include music, movies, and board games. You may also catch her reading a book for her neighbourhood book club. Before becoming a doula, Dawn was a music teacher and student mentor. She brings warmth and calm when walking into a room. Dawn has always loved babies and has a natural knack for soothing fussy ones!

In 2018, Angela finally decided to take the plunge and trained with ProDoula. She is thrilled to be a part of the amazing team at Guelph Family Doulas. Angela is also a member of the Association of Ontario Doulas.

Liz White

Liz defines doula success as seeing birthing people and their families feel powerful, informed, confident and involved in their decision making processes through birth and early parenthood. Liz trained with DONA in 2016 and ProDoula in 2017 and is a member of the Association of Ontario Doulas.

Liz is lover of laughter and connection, and actively seeks great experiences. She lives with her 10 year old son, her partner and their dog and cat. Vanessa Strickland

Affiliate, Professional Doula

Vanessa completed her labour doula training with ProDoula in 2018 because she wanted to support and help empower women in their birth and postpartum experiences . The labour/birthing process is such an intimate and vulnerable time and Vanessa is honoured to be invited into that space. Vanessa is also a member of the Association of Ontario Doulas.

Vanessa is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have 4 boys, whom they affectionately refer to as the Wild Things. She loves baking (and eating!), being outdoors, traveling and having her home filled with people. Vanessa will always say yes to watching The Office or Pride & Prejudice.
